What to expect from a Lux Organic cookery class

Lux Organic classes are relaxed, hands-on and very sociable. In small groups, you’ll learn simple techniques that you can easily repeat at home, and then you’ll sit down, together, at the end of the class,  to enjoy what you’ve made. Everything is 100% plant-based with a focus on gut-loving Asian Fusion flavours — think colourful and delicious Sushi, Korean dishes and vibrant seasonal vegetables. See you at the classes - in an apron!  Book here or contact LuLu.

Who is your teacher?

The classes are taught by the founder of Lux Organic, an accredited plant based Chef, LuLu, who graduated in 2023, from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) as a Vegan Natural Chef while receiving an Achievement Award for Academic Excellence.

Do I need to have cooking experience?
No experience is necessary. The classes are designed for all cooking levels, with simple recipes and plenty of guidance to create delicious, beautifully presented food that you can recreate at home.

Don’t worry if you haven’t even used a measuring spoon before! You’ll become more confident and capable by the end of the session. Two assistants are on standby to support at every stage. There is no judgement – only encouragement – so everyone can enjoy the evening and leave with a new skill.
What kind of food will we cook?
The focus is on Asian Fusion, a style that tends to nurture a healthy gut. We will cook delicious food with health benefits. The Sushi-Rolling Class is particularly popular, and participants are often amazed at their creativity when decorating their finished rolls.

A wide range of sauces, dips, spices, herbs, gold leaf (always popular), and balsamic pearls are available for decoration. A few techniques are demonstrated, then participants take over.
Where do the classes take place?
Most classes take place at South Coast Cookery School in Southsea. Soft drinks, wine and beer are available at extra cost on the day.

Classes also run in Petersfield and South Harting, and bespoke private vegan cookery classes can be arranged at your home or a venue near you.
How long is each session?
Approximately 2 hours, including introductions, cooking, and around 30 minutes to enjoy what has been made or pack it up, to take home.
Are all the ingredients provided, or do I need to bring my own?
All ingredients are provided, including some that participants may not have encountered before, along with guidance on where they are sourced.
Can I join if I have allergies or specific dietary needs?
Yes. Please advise dietary requirements or allergies when booking, and recipes can usually be adapted.
Is everything 100% plant-based?
Yes – completely. Guests are consistently surprised by how rich and delicious the dishes are without any animal products.
Can I book a private class or group session?
Yes. Private and group sessions are available, and bespoke Vegan Cookery Classes can be designed to suit your event.
Do I get to take the food home afterwards?
If you have any left after your supper. Containers can be provided.
Will recipes be shared after the class?
PDF recipes are supplied at the start of the class and can be emailed afterwards if requested.
What should I bring to class?
Just yourself. Aprons are provided. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Classes often book up well in advance and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. A Sushi class runs once a month and the same applies to the Korean class. Dates are listed on the South Coast Cookery | Events & Workshops in Southsea website, currently available up to March 2026.
